My Locale Western US
About Me Started backpacking in 1998 - US with some global travel (Pacific, Europe, Asia, northern Mexico). Semi-retired from a govt type job working on the side. Here to hike more comfortably and maybe a bit furtherfaster while still stopping for scenery. Finished my 20F kit, .. starting on a 45F one (both interchangeable).

Gear list was for 3 days but made it almost as a "24-hour" adventure (like 25 hours) using the Z-pack

Re: no sleep bag camping
I've only tried it with a low in the mid-50's (tropical humid, Hawaii) and even then I draped a fleece over my head in order to sleep in.

Re: Rocky Mountain National Park: bear cannisters now required?
..I don't mean to be a rule-breaker, but what are the consequences of not using a bear cannister? Will one be fined by the state? National Park service? My buddies who have run afoul of Gr...

Re: Great website for snowpack information
Thanks, put the link in my toolbox. May need to put off going over the Colorado state line one more week as my interest areas still have a couple feet of snow (though I will confirm with the range...
