My Locale Extreme northern Sierra Nevada
About Me I'm 60, single male. I had been in Retail Management for over 30 years. I have mostly solo bped since the early mid '70's. I XC some, not afraid to go alone, I also solo winter camp, even out in sub-zero temps. A few years ago, I went on a backcountry bp to Alaska, where I flew in by bush plane with five others into Wrangell/St. Elias NP. Since early 2010, I have been collecting vintage/antique camping and bp stoves, having acquired over 90 now. I like many outdoor activities, from bping to dirtbike riding, gardening.

Radius 43
I took my old Radius 43 with the roarer burner out snow camping this winter, amazed at how nicely it simmered, with that silent roar thing going on. Super cool stove too. Not light. Duane

Fire restrictions up north here already
I'd think down south, things would be drier. Already here on the Plumas NF, signs already posted by Fire Stations either show moderate or high. I have not cut any firewood yet this year, so I...

I hope I don't catch a lot of crap for admitting this...
I'm 60, hoping to do the Bob and a few other areas out west here after I retire, maybe some sooner. Not many folks out here in Kalifornia come Oct., even in high use areas from summer. Duane

JJ, I'm supposed to do part of the SHR in July with a few guys I've never met. Not sure we'll be by lakes/streams to fish at night. I was in the Recesses canyons a couple years ago, ca...

The pancakes and eggs
Not many of us do pancackes out on the trail. In my early days, that was part of my breakfast for week long trips, cooking over a tiny fire too. Only on weekends now, plus, there are no trout to ...

What are we buying?
Over the years, I've only purchased a few things from them. I've been into the store in Reno a few times, hard to find stuff or backup stock like when looking at boots or shoes. Duane

Best UL non-stick frying pan for the trail?
I gave up the MSR fry pan, as stuff still stuck to it. Not sure now it was totally the pans fault, too high heat will cause sticking also. I currently use a Trangia non-stick lid, purchased as a ...
