Cardiac
Scary stuff indeed. My heart was fast but not erratic - so steady but alarmingly high while I laid there for hours. My guess was 120 BPM whereas I normally measure 55-65 at rest.

Dehydration & Heat stroke
Great thread going here. This is something I've been meaning to get a better understanding of. Perhaps someone can offer some insight/diagnosis on my situation last August. I planned a 1 nig...

Methanol
"Not sure why you'd want to carry methanol, Dan." I carry it because ethanol isn't readily available in Canada (it's essentially banned for public sale). I've got a stash...

Ethanol & Pine

You can buy just the valve from Theramrest - it's called the "Air Tap": http://cascadedesigns.com/therm-a-rest/accessories/neoair-airtap-pump/product I would just pop an extra hol...

Starlyte
"So, do you need to raise the stove, or can you just drop the pot?" Ideally you cut the cone down so the pot sits at the right height. The saves weight and the cone packs up even smaller...

Fabrics
Out of these two fabrics, the real advantage of the cuben hybrid is that it's basically waterproof. If you hike it wet locales or packraft then that's valuable. If not, I'd go 140D beca...

PCT Pogo
I think you're onto something here. The pogo could do for hiking what the packraft did for long distance river swimming: substantially increase both efficiency and fun. Much like shoes, the wei...

Spark-Lite Fire Starter (Survival Gear - BPL Gear Shop)
I have this kit and the FireLite Mini kit. This sparker is a bit lighter than the FireLite Mini but I don't trust this sparker 100% like I do the FireLite. This sparker doesn't work well wh...

BPL FireLite Firestarter
I love this FireLite Mini. It's the only thing that I 100% trust to start a fire. With a mini Bic you can run out of gas, be at too high of an altitude, get it wet or get it oily. Matches can ...

Hyperlight Mtn Gear Echo I
I wasn't sure where to put this review as the Echo I can be used as either a tarp or a double wall tent. OVERVIEW I've given the Echo I five stars because it's quality construct...

I've got the original Reed pants (4oz in a size medium) and they are prefect rain pants for UL hiking. They've been adequately durable, totally waterproof and light. I don't want ankle zip...

Baladeo 22 Grams Knife
This knife is a brilliant design. Every part of it is functional and the result is a lot of knife for just 22g (or 24.3g as mine as actually weighs). When I opened the (very nice) box and first played...
