Mountain town/city advice: Future move
Silver City would be great, if my brother-in-law didn't live there. I think you're gonna have to get in a metro area to get that guy/girl ratio synced up.

Learnt an very important Lesson on Hydration and Salts
I never knew you could buy baselayers based on temperature and humidity, especially since everyone is different. You just have to find what works for you; now you know what doesn't! And I'v...

No more Twinkies or Ding Dongs
I'm giving Ben Crocker the win on this one. After yesterdays disaster her in Midland, I just can't get worked up about much.

REI currently working on new return policies
It's been my experience that being a lowlife transcends generations. But not families. Kind of like being stupid.

Just Say No To Wicking: Non-Traditional Base Layers Based on a Next-to-Skin Fishnet Model
I used a fishnet top in the 70s, but under a long underwear top. And since no one else will say, I'll sae it - Ike's post is the clear winner in this thread!!

REI currently working on new return policies
The forever return policy might work for Backcountry, since you'd have to ship everything back to them. That would knock a bunch of returns out. Unless I'm confused, and Backcountry has bri...

REI currently working on new return policies
Probably a sound economic decision that will benefit their members. I'd support it, but I've only been a member since 1973. I keep hearing it's a new world, so they probably need to com...

Don't know about a 2 day, but you'll drive by Goblin State Park. If you turn right, right before you enter, you can follow a dirt road to Little Wild Horse Canyon, which is an awesome day h...

Marmot Atom Mens Regular 40 Degree
Nice bag. 1/2 zipper is kind of a pain, and makes it hard to use as a quilt. Seems true to rating.

ULA Catalyst
Replaced my Exos 58 with this, much more comfortable, with more weight. Got a deal on a 2008 model, and added the dual stays. A lot bigger pack than I'll use most of the time. Gained some weight o...

ULA Circuit
Switched to this for more durability, and the ability to carry more water in the desert. Works like a champ, and you couldn't ask for better customer service.

I have to ding it a little for the hip belt. I think the hip belts on the large runs small, because it didn't wrap around me enough to be effective. And that may not be fair to ding it, because al...

Golite Ultra 20
Mine kept me warm in the upper 20s, so I'm happy. I'm not completely sure it would reach 20, and keep you warm for 8 hours. But it's a great product for a great price.
