My Locale Boulder, CO
About Me I started backpacking as a teenager in southern appalachia. My summers in college were spent in mountain heaven, glacier national park. Since then, I've lived and played in the high sierras, the cascades, and now the colorado front range. Walking into the mountains for a few days with a light pack never seems to lose its charm. Also a snapper of many photos. Check out my instagram for short visual trip reports and such.

I tried on that montbell hoody at the store and I like it a lot. The material is thin and breathable and has a 3d structure so it should wick well. Its the same material as their lightest base. The...

I've had great luck with my zpacks hexamid tarp and probably have somewhere around 150 nights in it. I wore through a hmg cuben hybrid pack in a matter of months (which included a lot of heavy ...

I think shane is after our techy hearts here at bpl. Seems like a pretty cool fabric solution they came up with too. Pretty happy with the new marmot essence though, which I've been hiking with...

another consideration
Although a micro 4/3's sensor has its advantages, I do think that the mark 1-3 with their 1 inch sensors strikes a nice balance between pixel density and depth of field. For most landscape work...

The compression is so good on the katabatic packs that I don't think their will be a whole lot to compare between the 40 and 55 packs, unless the backpanel is narrower on the 40, which I doubt....

yeah, sony is really outdoing itself on the tech side. The rx100 and the rx100m3 have really changed how I do photography in a good way. I even bring mine on local runs and hikes in the flatirons t...

Re: Re: wraith
Yeah, the wraith has great breathability for the weight and even then I end up wanting something a bit more breathable. When its really windy, my wpb does just fine. I'd love it if someone made...

sony rx100 IV
Strong rumors that sony will announce the next model in the rx100 series, and that it'll have a 4/3's size sensor but similar weight and dimensions to the current model. Oi, I wish they wou...

@chris, yup, only the bottom straps wrap around its not really a feature that I think I'll have much use for, but I'm sure some people will. I'm planning to write more impressions a...

Rand was really helpful on two stove purchases. Answered all questions almost immediately and helped get a sidewinder made for me at a moment's notice for a trip. Couldn't as for better custom...

I'm very impressed with this pack. I tried out a few packs for a planned AT thru hike (didn't pan out yet), and this was far and a away my favorite. With the stay and sitpad, the pack conforms...
