My Locale Boulder, CO
About Me I started backpacking as a teenager in southern appalachia. My summers in college were spent in mountain heaven, glacier national park. Since then, I've lived and played in the high sierras, the cascades, and now the colorado front range. Walking into the mountains for a few days with a light pack never seems to lose its charm. Also a snapper of many photos. Check out my instagram for short visual trip reports and such.

I can squeeze my gear into a much smaller pack, but I like having the extra space of a 60L pack so long as the compression is good. The compression on my katabatic artemis is great so I've use ...

Re: Re: Tea filter?
Thanks for the tip Gary. If you don't mind, which size did you go for and how does it fit for your size/weight? Thank you.

bending the stay
Andy, I just took out the stay and held it up to my back in the mirror and made some minor adjustments. The lumbar bend was a little too extreme for me, as i felt it pushing against my back, so I b...

I've used katabatic quilts (reg) for the last few years and from the sounds of it, you probably want a wide. The attachment system is effective, but the reg size doesn't leave a lot of room...

hmg vs. katabatic
I've owned an hmg ice pack (same suspension as windrider) for the last few years and now I'm using a katabatic artemis (same suspension as helios). I prefer the katabatic in almost all resp...

I've owned both, and I like the cerium better for the excellent tailoring and fit. The hood is also excellent. There might be a slight edge in warmth for the flash, but I don't think its mu...

I'm very impressed with this pack. I tried out a few packs for a planned AT thru hike (didn't pan out yet), and this was far and a away my favorite. With the stay and sitpad, the pack conforms...
