If you are worried about the moisture accumulating and making you cold, then just compensate with more down - either a warmer down bag or an extra down jacket to sleep in.

Bump it up to a 9x9 or 10x10 tarp and you won't need a bivy unless you are encountering intense wind driven rain.

I think you will be impressed with the goretex socks. They are made from a solid fabric. They aren't as breathable as wearing a pair of goretex shoes, but a lot better than something non breath...
