Enchantments Day Hike
Enchantments in May? Depending on the experience you're hoping for, this area is a good 2 months away from being ready for good hiking. Even with the insanely warm weather we're having (lov...

granite gear nimbus meridian for sale anywhere?
There is no such thing as a Large in the Nimbus line of packs. Just SMALL and REGULAR. That's for the pack and frame setup itself. You can get components in other sizes, however. Anything from ...

Re: Spider Meadows/Lyman Lake/Buck Creek
It's not a perfect loop. The end of the trail is about a 2 mile (I think?) road walk back to the Spider TH. ABSOLUTELY worth it - definitely don't let that little bit affect your decision....

Re: Glacier Peak access
There are a LOT of ways to get into Glacier Peak with the time you have. The Spider Meadow/Phelps route (premier location!) is easy to get to off of Highway 2. Well traveled and straightforward. I&...

Shoe sizing - how big is too big?
Thanks for all the advice. I got them out on the trail yesterday. They're big, but I think they'll work. I didn't have them laced down super tight and I didn't have my Superfeet in ...

2 week backpack trip in North Cascades
That's a perfect time to hit the North Cascades! Too bad about your Wonderland permit (although I'd rather be in the NC than Rainier at that time anyway :) The Glacier Peak advice is exc...

Shoe sizing - how big is too big?
As luck would have it, I'm about a 13.5 shoe. As fellow bigfeet will know, that size doesn't exist. After 12 or so, it's just whole sizes. Because of this, I typically just try on a bun...

Made in USA day pack
I'm a big fan of Granite Gear packs, but they are no longer made in the US. Like most big name backpacks, they're sewn in Vietnam now.

FS: LL Bean Women's 2.8oz Wind Shirt, Medium, Gray
I have 2 of these. One of the best windshirts ever made if you value breathability over all. Way tougher than the weight would suggest. Screaming deal for somebody out there! I think these were $79...

I'll give the Lock-Laces that BPL sells a star for being incredibly comfortable during in-camp and flat trail duty, and another star for the quick and easy on-off they allow. But, they are not near...

If Esbit is the fuel choice, this little stand is a fantastic option. Fits the GSI double boilers well and my Snowpeak bowl nicely. The real appeal is the ridiculously light weight. I can tos...
