My Locale Wet & Humid Southeast....
About Me My stomping grounds are the SE US, and 90% of the time, somewhere on the AT in GA, TN, or NC. Other times I enjoy going to the Smokies, or other smaller wilderness areas such as the Savage Gulf area.
Most of my trips are between 2 - 5 days long, with rare 7 day long trips. My total pack weights are generally under 20 lbs, unless trying new gear, or carrying extra for the kids. In the dead of summer, I enjoy SUL hikes, and have given thought to XUL (almost there...)

Re: Pushing a Sleep System Further - Top vs Bottom
My opinion... The pad. If your bag is truly rated to 20 F, then replace, or better yet, supplement your pad with a ccf pad, even just a 1/8" pad. You can use extra clothes to add insulatio...

Re: mld
Joslyn, I would say the (standard size) Borah bivy might have a slightly wider floor, but I don't have the MLD bivy to actually compare it too any longer. With a 20" wide pad, there were a...

Re: Re: Re: MLD
I don't have the Borah bug bivy, but have one of his regular bivies, and had a MLD bug bivy. Saying that, the MLD bug bivy has loads more room inside it than the Borah bivies. It can be suspend...

Re: Re: Vented drink tubing?

Re: Re: Re: Vented drink tubing?
Nope, not in my pack... Fluids go in side pack pockets of my cuben (waterproof) backpack... Also, the weight of a single 1L Platy and the tubing would be less than the 2 Gatorade bottles I carry...
