My Locale California
About Me I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my wife and two children. I have hiked and backpacked throughout the state and beyond. I'm always looking to lighten my pack and lengthen the days and mileage of my trips. Favorite trips I've taken include thru-hikes of the John Muir Trail, High Sierra Trail, and Tahoe Rim Trail.

Re: How well does the MLD Exodus carry a bear canister?
Dan: Tony is correct. The BV solo fits fine in the Exodus. He is also correct that it is good to have something, however thin, between the can and the dyneema on the bottom of the pack, particul...

4th annual
I like the idea of a new place, but I also like the idea of keeping it easy for SF and LA people to both attend without too much trouble. Henry Coe seemed to work well for that. Big Sur / Ventana...

Re: IPAs - yes 21A
Yes, Randy, Ryan is right that the six pack in my backpack was Brew Free or Die IPA from 21A in SF. Good to hear there are other craft brew fans and hop heads out there on BPL, though not a surpri...

Had a great time too. As you all know, Tony "snapshot" Wong will be posting pics later. He's planning on starting a new thread in photos. Thanks Kenx2.

5 gallon cornelius kegs I think, right Cameron? Refurbished soda kegs. Still not light. Carrying them in might be wishful thinking, but it would be worth a try. We could "lighten" the...

we should hike in
We should definitely hike in. The car campground at Coe kind of sucks (on a sloping hill) and Manzanita point is a nice spot for a big group. A couple of inches of snow should not be a major prob...

I have to add my two cents about MLD's service. Early this summer I damaged the bottom of my Exodus pack. The damage was completely my fault (sliding down granite). I wrote Ron and asked if he ...
