My Locale Isle of Man About Me Pre-Goretex backpacking mainly took in Snowdonia. Visits to the English Lake District started while attending Lancaster University, as did my first backpacking trips to Scotland. A Munro obsession grew, then ended on completion in 1986. No, I never told the record-keepers. Completion was followed immediately by trips to New Zealand, totalling 11 months, and to the Pyrenees.
