About Me After lugging around 45lbs+ through a Nat'l Park or two, I decided UL was the way to go and haven't looked back. URL is to my Geargrams list for most of my 3-season trips. My other hobby is photography, if the destination is worth it, then add 1 to 7lbs to my base weight for camera gear. In case you were curious, my profile avatar image is Buck (aka 9 mile) Creek of the High Sierra Trail in Seki NP.

Re: Berghaus/Mtnhause Rmache
Michael - that Berghaus should be an interesting product once it hits the market, for sure - mostly because of the cut, the technique chosen for main baffling, and the use of hydrophobic down. I d...

Hi Gregory, The reason behind no NEX for me is a bit of a story. But it basically comes down to size. I had progressed my ultralight philosophy to the point where I was bringing no camera at a...

Re: Remember, there's more than pixels
Exactly. As much as I love my Canon 7D and L glass, a Sony RX100 fits in my pocket and weighs significantly less than the 7D combined with the lightest lens I own. Image quality wise the RX100 won...

Re: Re: I need a large sensor
Unless your goal is wildlife, I can heartily second the Sony RX100 for UL backpacking photographers looking to replace a DSLR with something lighter and more compact. I brought one with on a rec...

Re: Windshirts: 2012 State of the Market Report - Part 1: What is a Windshirt?
Removing the pocket from my Houdini sounds like a fun weekend project, so much thanks for the mini write-up on it. I'm not much of a DIYer yet, but the project seems simple enough, and I know ...
