They are both .3 micron, rated at 1L/min. It's the same cartridge. So I don't think the efficiency has to do with pumping. Marketing hype?

My wife and I use a 1.3L on a Cone, get 1 liter boiling in under an ounce of alcohol, and IIR in about 12 minutes. It is a quiet, though slower, contender.

I think you just need to re-assign your current watch and then buy one that has an alarm, remove the straps, add a fob, and be happy. Then one watch will get the job done.
