About Me Originally from Louisiana, I enjoyed camping in my Boy Scouting days and eventually became an Eagle Scout. Many years later (2002), I discovered backpacking after going on an REI multisport trip to Alaska. My first backpack was to Grand Canyon, and I was hooked!

I don't have any of them, but would never buy that overpriced watch over a suunto vector which can be had for nearly half that price. Suunto quality is tops from everything I have read.

11,000 ft in any mountains in October ..and you could see snow easily. IMO, you'd be putting yourself at risk not preparing for snow and temps well below freezing.

OR 1. cut down (or not) a driducks/drop stoppers jacket in waist or arm length 2. wear it UNDER montane featherlite for an ultralight "inner" rain jacket. Cut down it should weigh maybe 4 oz...
