About Me Originally from Louisiana, I enjoyed camping in my Boy Scouting days and eventually became an Eagle Scout. Many years later (2002), I discovered backpacking after going on an REI multisport trip to Alaska. My first backpack was to Grand Canyon, and I was hooked!

A thought
Has anyone ever somehow staked plastic directly over their sleeping area of a snowcave roof to stop/divert the water drip? That would seem interesting to see how it would work.

Like Kevin said, layer the jacket over the vbl for even more loft, both layers of the flight would be alot.

I think there will be much shorter shelf life. Shelf life for aqua mira is about two years, IIRC. Shelf life for KlearWater (guessing that is the name?) is eight months once opened IF refrigerated.

It's something to think about for sure. I was figuring he might need something more since we are to plan for a winter storm. Maybe a brighter headlamp wouldn't help in a white out...I haven't been ...
