i go with light weight next to skin in all but the
most extreme conditions. a good light wicking base layer will move moisture away from my skin and to the surface of the garment. if i'm wearing a light base layer i can always add insulation....

the mammut kompakt or alpine series might fit
your bill. they are the smallest packing synthetic bags i've seen. i've never crawled in one, but if memory serves me they are fairly narrow.
