My Locale John S. hasn't told us about their geographical region yet.
About Me Originally from Louisiana, I enjoyed camping in my Boy Scouting days and eventually became an Eagle Scout. Many years later (2002), I discovered backpacking after going on an REI multisport trip to Alaska. My first backpack was to Grand Canyon, and I was hooked!

Re: many thanks, but...
PJ, I wouldn't worry too much about your posts to Dan McHale. It's not the first time he has gotten agitated with forum postings. The same goes for me...lol. Agitated may be the wrong word. Some pe...

Re: Re: other tarp kits
Anybody can send them a message from their website after going through their three-tiered nonsense of repeatedly telling you they will only respond to shipment or order issues.

Re: Re: Re: International backpacking gear list
Fleece is not synonymous with soft shell. Fleece is for insulation and a soft shell is sort of a wind resistant/water resistant/abrasion resistant shirt or jacket.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Lightest Socks
Go for it. Those RBX socks won't be as warm as either the possum down socks or the 200 weight fleece. Your original post said you wanted sleep socks not double duty sleep/hike socks.

Re: Cozie Hat Myth?
A cozy whether it be a hat or reflectix is a cooking item that will have food spilled/dropped on it. It would be dangerous to sleep with a food cozy on your head in bear country.

Re: evazote (GG NightLight) and water absorption
The nightlights and the mt washington are both made of closed cell foam, both evazote. The cut surface of closed cell foam may expose the top layer of cells which can hold water, not absorb it.
