About Me Originally from Louisiana, I enjoyed camping in my Boy Scouting days and eventually became an Eagle Scout. Many years later (2002), I discovered backpacking after going on an REI multisport trip to Alaska. My first backpack was to Grand Canyon, and I was hooked!

Ben, In a later post, Ryan said they all used Montane Featherlite pants (pertex microlite) and not the Montbells....on second look I might have that backwards.

What is also interesting is the arctic 1000 guys didn't want alchemy 2 for pants but did want it for their rain jacket, or at least Ryan did.
