Baking
I like the idea of using rocks in the pot to minimize burning rather than water so you can get a crust on your muffins. I'm going to try this soon, but I am a bit nervous about overheating my p...

Hmm.....that is unfortunate. I ordered a Montbell parka from BackcountryGear.com about a week ago and thankfully they had the sense to email me and say that my order had been cancelled because they...

That's interesting....I wonder if they are the only tablets effective against crypto, or just the only tablets that someone has spent the time & effort to test? Either way, I usually would ...

Tough Call
I'm still mulling this decision over. My current 1.5L hard anodized aluminum MSR pot/lid/lifter weighs 303g (10.7 oz) and an Evernew 1.3L Ti setup would weigh just 130g (4.6oz) which is a lot o...

Mountain Laurel Designs Cuben DuoMid
The DuoMid is the best shelter for solo hikers. Don't be misled by the "Duo" in its name - you could cram two hikers in here but it's poorly suited for that (ie. no vestibule space, ...

Spark-Lite Fire Starter (Survival Gear - BPL Gear Shop)
I have this kit and the FireLite Mini kit. This sparker is a bit lighter than the FireLite Mini but I don't trust this sparker 100% like I do the FireLite. This sparker doesn't work well wh...

BPL FireLite Firestarter
I love this FireLite Mini. It's the only thing that I 100% trust to start a fire. With a mini Bic you can run out of gas, be at too high of an altitude, get it wet or get it oily. Matches can ...
