About Me Originally from Louisiana, I enjoyed camping in my Boy Scouting days and eventually became an Eagle Scout. Many years later (2002), I discovered backpacking after going on an REI multisport trip to Alaska. My first backpack was to Grand Canyon, and I was hooked!

I checked out the MTI Livery. The padding on the sides and that padding coming up fairly high towards the armpit seems like a possible irritation in paddling long hours in a day.

One website puts the compact titanal poles at 16 oz/pair. The Komperdell website states 7.3 oz, but that is probably for one pole.

I simply wear a loose button down long sleeve shirt, Ex Officio brand. A snug baselayer in heat will only lessen evaporative cooling.
