Jam Golite almost needs a new line of packs that are more 'hardcore ultralight' with the Pinnacle/Jam/Peak line getting fatter and fatter. Something more in tune with the original idea behind t... |

Pullover I'll post here when I get a response from MEC. Usually they take a few business days. Since this product is brand new, I'm hopeful that a men's pullover is coming too and it's just ... |

Re: replacing waist strap Neat idea....if I knew how to sew I would do this for sure. I did trim my side compression straps a couple days ago so they are only long enough to function as compression straps. No longer can ... |

Pullover Hmm....MEC makes a version of this jacket with a 1/2 zip and a hood called the Uplink Pullover and it's only 32g heavier (~1oz) than the jacket. That's lighter than any hat. Sounds great... |

Re: New MEC Primaloft Jacket I see.....that explanation makes a lot of sense. I do plan on using whatever jacket I buy as part of my sleep system on colder nights. I have an Ultra 20 quilt which supposedly isn't good to mu... |

Re: New MEC Primaloft Jacket Why is down less efficient as a sleep garment? Because the insulation underneath you gets squashed to nothing? Is synth really significantly better or does it get mostly squashed too? It seems like... |

Jam Mods I just cut a decent amount off the side compression straps, while still leaving ample length for them to do their job as side compression straps. The total weight saved was 12g (almost 0.5oz). O... |

MEC Interesting jacket. The price is definately right ($115) and so is the weight but I'm left wondering how warm it really is. I was in MEC this week so I should have checked this out. This jacket... |

Re: Re: Updated Gear List I have done some modifications to my Jam to remove weight. I removed the hydration bladder, replaced the drawstring with lighter cord and cut most of the straps. These mods brought me from 755g to ... |

Spark-Lite Fire Starter (Survival Gear - BPL Gear Shop) I have this kit and the FireLite Mini kit. This sparker is a bit lighter than the FireLite Mini but I don't trust this sparker 100% like I do the FireLite. This sparker doesn't work well wh... |

BPL FireLite Firestarter I love this FireLite Mini. It's the only thing that I 100% trust to start a fire. With a mini Bic you can run out of gas, be at too high of an altitude, get it wet or get it oily. Matches can ... |

Hyperlight Mtn Gear Echo I I wasn't sure where to put this review as the Echo I can be used as either a tarp or a double wall tent. OVERVIEW I've given the Echo I five stars because it's quality construct... |

Golite 2006 Reed Pants I've got the original Reed pants (4oz in a size medium) and they are prefect rain pants for UL hiking. They've been adequately durable, totally waterproof and light. I don't want ankle zip... |

Marmot Essence I'll be the first one to give this jacket 5 stars. Marmot has made a number of changes to this jacket over the years so criticisms of the earlier models are no longer relevant. My Essence is t... |

Baladeo 22 Grams Knife This knife is a brilliant design. Every part of it is functional and the result is a lot of knife for just 22g (or 24.3g as mine as actually weighs). When I opened the (very nice) box and first played... |

Nite ize S-Biner After using another small biner that failed due to a poor design, I switched the Nite Ize Size 1 biner for bear bagging this summer. I use one of these to clip to my 1.4mm spectra cord to my food sack... |

Mountain Laurel Designs Revelation I really like my 2009 MLD Revelation pack. The 1.5oz cuben is great. I think it will last a very long time provided I don't take any good falls on rocky slopes. With some bungie cordage, MLD s... |

Granite Gear Uberlight CTF3 Drysack I bought two of these Uberlight drysacks, a green 7L one for my GoLite Ultra 20 quilt and a orange 10L one for my wife's 15F rated 800FP MEC Merlin sleeping bag. The claimed weights for these d... |

Petzl e+LITE I really like the e+Lite. It's surprisingly bright and I appreciate the red light functionality in the tent. On high, this light is nearly as bright as my Tikka yet it weighs 1/3rd and has additio... |
