My Locale Scotts Valley CA via San Jose, CA
About Me A return to backpacking after a musicians life. Hiked with too much weight before finding out the "lite" side. I live in Scotts Valley which is right in the middle of the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains, and only 10 minutes from the beach and 15 minutes from Los Gatos. Love the Sierra's!!! Too many places to see and go!

Re: Light ski
Jason, that is exactly what I want to do, get from point A to point B. My ski's don't really need skins, but I am thinking about purchasing some Black Diamond ones just in case.

Great idea Ryan! This will be my first season backcountry skiing and I am clueless on what to bring and use. Hopefully I gain some great insight on what to bring, wear, and sleep in!!!

Thanks Alan. Have thought about Coe too. Some of the trails are pretty steep and it does get quite hot in the summer. Better for early spring when I am jonesing to get out. Thought about a Sat. pho...

They say that kids make the best bear bait! I'm just sooo excited that I won't have to carry my cannister in Yosemite and SEKI next year!

Been using ULA packs for years. Bought the P2, P1 and now the Conduit. All are excellent in their own way. Customer service is perfect and so is the gear. Great packs!!!

Came home to find a rather colorful small box on my porch today. Wow it is small. I have always thought that it would be cool to have a small bear cannister for 1-2 nights of backpacking. Well here it...
