About Me Originally from Louisiana, I enjoyed camping in my Boy Scouting days and eventually became an Eagle Scout. Many years later (2002), I discovered backpacking after going on an REI multisport trip to Alaska. My first backpack was to Grand Canyon, and I was hooked!

I don't remember any critters at monument campground the two times I have been there, 2002 and 2004. At Bright Angel campground turkeys sometimes find their way to bother you though.

Hi Bill. I would only wear windpants/windshirt over the propore for appearance if one didn't like the color, or for bushwacking maybe.
