My Locale Scotts Valley CA via San Jose, CA
About Me A return to backpacking after a musicians life. Hiked with too much weight before finding out the "lite" side. I live in Scotts Valley which is right in the middle of the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains, and only 10 minutes from the beach and 15 minutes from Los Gatos. Love the Sierra's!!! Too many places to see and go!

Re: And the times they are a-changin'!
I will not buy a piece of gear unless I know that the weight is listed. If not, then I will look for a scale in the store. If there is none and I have no idea then I will not purchase the item. I w...

That made Coe look easy? Mannnn. Ventana can add some nice elevation gains. Still sounds like a good trip though

Re: Golite Lair
Well David, first thing is that when you are in storm conditions, you will be setting your tarp lower to the ground (ie the front and back) to add more protection. I am 6'1 and use a long sleeping ...

Greyson I have the same set up as you and sleep very nicely. I too have found out that, with setting the thinlight on top of the Insul Mat makes life very cozy!

gotta admit that I too have an 18oz. inflatable mat. A good nights sleep is quite important to me. Worth the weight alone. Funny that my pack weighs 22oz. It almost weighs as much as my

Been using ULA packs for years. Bought the P2, P1 and now the Conduit. All are excellent in their own way. Customer service is perfect and so is the gear. Great packs!!!

Came home to find a rather colorful small box on my porch today. Wow it is small. I have always thought that it would be cool to have a small bear cannister for 1-2 nights of backpacking. Well here it...
