My Locale Scotts Valley CA via San Jose, CA
About Me A return to backpacking after a musicians life. Hiked with too much weight before finding out the "lite" side. I live in Scotts Valley which is right in the middle of the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains, and only 10 minutes from the beach and 15 minutes from Los Gatos. Love the Sierra's!!! Too many places to see and go!

Also depends on a trip. If I am going fast and light for an overnighter, then a 2 oz. container of fuel and my Mo Go Torch stove do the trick. Multi day trips are a tad different. I will bring my S...

When sold in a package of two, The price does not seem that bad. They do look real nice. Something I would want during the early season in the Sierra's!!! Nice product.

all of those questions are good ones. Unfortunately unless someone has crossed the rivers there is no telling how high or low they will be. Also depends on how much snow is melting. We had record s...

Re: Trail Runner reassurance - JMT
The only snow that you should encounter to any degree will be Donahue Pass and Island Pass. Many people have crossed both of those passes already this year so there should be worn paths made in the...

Re: Re: JMT before August 4th HELP
also keep in mind that the snow has been melting rather fast. So I don't know how updated those reports are. Also look out for thunder storms, we have had plenty of them this year.

Here is the latest on SEKI http://www.nps.gov/seki/trailcdt.htm Some of this is up to date and some is from last month. I would call the Ranger Station at Cedar Grove's Road End and ask. Also...

Been using ULA packs for years. Bought the P2, P1 and now the Conduit. All are excellent in their own way. Customer service is perfect and so is the gear. Great packs!!!

Came home to find a rather colorful small box on my porch today. Wow it is small. I have always thought that it would be cool to have a small bear cannister for 1-2 nights of backpacking. Well here it...
