About Me Originally from Louisiana, I enjoyed camping in my Boy Scouting days and eventually became an Eagle Scout. Many years later (2002), I discovered backpacking after going on an REI multisport trip to Alaska. My first backpack was to Grand Canyon, and I was hooked!

It would be neat to make custom sized liners from a mylar space blanket (doable since it can be heat sealed?) or from resizing a compactor bag (can that be done?) or painters drop cloth.

When I tarp/bivy camp, I will simply sleep inside an equinox bivy (water resistant, ~$60) with no sleeping bag. It works for me.
