My Locale Midwest
About Me I am in my late-40's and really got interested in backpacking about 10 years ago as a way to have some concentrated time with my boys, now all finishing up high school or in college. I try to get out a few times a year, including a bi-annual trip to Colorado for some of the big stuff. Otherwise I am stuck in the very boring midwest where everything exciting is a good day's drive away.

Sawyer Mini leaking with a Platy
Has anyone else had a difficult time matching up the threads on your Platypus and the Sawyer Mini filter? This past weekend I got a leak-free exchange maybe 1 out of 5 times. Very frustrating.

Thanks for the analysis
Cameron, thanks for the write up. One of the reasons I am a member here (other than scoring deals on gear) is to learn more. I don't get out as much as I would like and therefore don't ha...

Love 'em both
I bought both the SD BC Quilt and the SD BC Bed at the same time when they came out, thinking I would try them both out and return one. I liked the design of them both so much that I've kept t...

hammock for lounging?
That is such a great route. You are hiking by streams much of the way and I've found that if I stop for the night by a stream, I am golden. I also pack a Nano 7 hammock with whoopie slings (1...

Can you tell me how much the bag has been used and how the loft is? Any blemishes or repairs at all?

Then keep it
If you really like the design of the BC Bed, then keep it. I sacrificed a lot of gear I really liked to get my weight low and hit a base weight of 9.5 lbs. But I missed some things and slowly add...

Backcountry Quilt?
You could go with the SD Backcountry Quilt instead of the Bed. I ordered both with the intention of sending one back after trying them both out and liked them so much I ended up keeping them both....

I'm 6', 245 lbs. Take a look at Katabatic Gear. Expensive, at least compared to Enlightend Equipment, but their quality and loft are off the charts. I really like their system for holdin...
