Re: a true instant whole grain hot cereal
You can do ANY whole grain by cooking and dehydrating, then you have instant. While oats can be ground down to make instant, other grains are much harder on the stomach and need cooking.

Consider adding in oil, like a packet worth, for extra calories. You could also serve it over couscous or rice for more calories.

Actually Just Mayo uses modified food starch as a binder. It isn't as scary as it sounds - it is just corn starch that holds up in processing with heat (canning), ie Clear Jel and similar.
