About Me Grew up camping and backpacking in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. Then went to the east coast for grad school...then job...then family. Twenty years later we were able to reach escape velocity from Washington DC and relocated the entire family to the PNW. I've fallen in love with the Cascades as much as the Rockies. And we spent 4+ weeks every year in Bigfork, MT near Glacier.

agree that a gridded fleece and windshirt is a great combo. but it also probably weights twice as much as a light down puffie (e.g., montbell ex light). so there are tradeoffs to consider.
