Ibex
Ibex's Indie hoodie is also a good garment, if you're looking for a merino wool mid-layer. It's lighter than the M.E.C. hoodie, more appropriate for spring/summer/fall. (I have a M.E...

Dermatone
Well, Dermatone is a sunblock, lip balm and chaffing lotion. And Hydropel is also a chaffing lotion. I haven't tried to set either on fire, though. And then you just get some 100% Deet...

U.S. Plastics Corp.
WOW good call on U.S. Plastics! I just ordered a pair of Tyvek trousers, a Tyvek shirt and Tyvek booties. Cost me about $15, but it will be interesting to see how I can use these in my system. ...

Bug net
This adds 3 ounces to your system, but the Gossamer Gear Bug Canopy is only $30, and you'd be able to use it in the summer when you don't use your bivy. http://www.gossamergear.com/cgi-b...

WTB Trangia pot grabber
You know the one I mean, the 0.5-oz. darling that comes in the kit with the 28-T. Seen in this image: http://media.rei.com/media/657906Lrg.jpg Anyone got one?

Pot handles versus pot lifter
What are the merits of a pot lifter, specifically using one with an alcohol stove? It seems to me that, aside from hiking in a group or with two people where one can benefit from the weight savings...

Re: Re: Tarp stuffing at bottom of pack?
"So it's pouring rain, and I want to pitch my tarp, and I have to unload my pack to get to it?" "Maybe Mike C! pulls out the whole 'sealed' liner (trash bag) to get to...

Wet tarp
Nah, you just stuff it in the bottom, then in goes the pack liner, then in goes your stuff. Alternatively, you could seal the pack liner and stuff the tarp on top of everything.

SnowPeak 900
I bought this pot two years ago for use with a canister stove. I liked that the pot was designed to house a Snow Peak Giga Power fuel canister and stove head. I didn't really like the lid—a fry...
