The John Muir Trail Association (there should be one) needs to get its act together and define all criteria for record attempt purposes. Whatever they say goes. The trail should be a closed course...

I think my CCF is 17 or 18 x 48, in Colorado right now with out it so can't measure. anyway it never gets in the way on the trail, are you planning some bushwhacking ?

Mike - I just strap my CCF to the outside of my pack and use other soft goods for internal padding. if you trim it small enough it won't get in the way on the outside. and if your days are lo...

I prefer my ccf pad on the outside of pack because it makes the pack to rigid against my back when inside, but some like that rigidness. the thing about keeping the rain jacket instead of the wind...

hey Mike how've you been ? just a quick look right now, you could easily shave 8oz if you tough it up and swap the neo for a half length trimmed CCF pad. shave another 3-4 by going stove...
