About Me 43, and in some of the best shape of my life after losing 50 lbs a couple years ago. I've always loved getting "out there" and backpacking is one of my preferred ways. I spend as much time as I can backpacking and car camping with my kids during the Summer. I'm an avid target shooter and enjoy kayaking with my family, ATVing and snowmobiling, and just about anything that get's me in the outdoors.

Ah
Sorry Justin, I read your question wrong, I need to slow down a tad. Smartwool and IB boxer-briefs are still good fitting for me after 5 days out. They do stretch a tad, but definitely not what i...

Re: merino underwear stretching out.
I can't speak to the Minus 33 stuff, bit the dryer isn't an issue for Smartwool or Icebreaker boxers and t's. At least not the ones I have. I really prefer merino over synthetic for a...

Re: Re: Jam is a good choice
Lance, my daughter does indeed use a 50L Jam (size small) and it works well. Is it truly fitted to her? If I was planning a thru hike with her, I would take a look at the fit more seriously. But...

Jam is a good choice
I thought about the Jam a few years back and decided it was worth a try for my daughter. She was 7 at the time and the 35L didn't exist, but I went with the Jam (50L) in size Small and with the...

Re: Re: Jock itch and wool boxer briefs..
+1 to Justin's comments. They're not cheap, but I've converted 100% to Merino boxers for daily wear and will never go back to synthetic.

This was my first quilt, and I couldn't be happier. I needed a new cold weather bag, so I went with the 20F 6' Wide and had the 30% over stuff. The loft on this quilt is incredible, more tha...

gossamer murmur
I would have liked to give the 2012 Murmur a 4.5 if I could have. My only criticism is that the stitching is not as well done as I would have expected. There were a few loose threads in some of the ...

I actually liked a lot about this jacket, but I ended up returning it to REI for one simple reason - it didn't keep me warm. The fit and quality is excellent, I especially like the breast pocke...
