My Locale Arkansas Ozarks
About Me Eagle Scout. I spent 9 summers on Camp Orr Adventure Base staff, BSA, Buffalo National River. I love my home in the Ozarks, but constantly wish for the grandeur that I see in the West, or in Europe. I'm the father of one boy, born for the trail. I blog a little about my experiences out there. I'm working on a mini-seminar to do with the local Boy Scout troops. Something like "Introduction to Lightweight Backpacking". I was also approached recently for help with bridge building on the Ozark Highlands Trail. We'll have to see about that though.

It's a Golite Shangri-La 1. I'd be well within if I went 3 X 8. I guess I'll do that and just cut off more as I determine what is excessive. thanks.

The frame looks great. But I need to wait for you(more creative types) to devise a plan to create the next great pack to utilize it.

I'm sure if I dug deep enough, I'd find a thread like this in the archives, but I'm ready to cut. I ordered a 3' X 9' piece of Tyvek from Ebay. I had planned on using my scrap f...

UL Reluctance
I make my own rules for how low I want to be. There is an adjustment as your base weight get's lighter anyway. Just yesterday, I packed for (what used to be) an overnighter. But with a sub 20 l...

I bought some from Montanasoft on ebay several weeks ago. He sold it in 9' wide and you pay by the foot. For 3x9, I paid $6.30 including shipping. Arrived within the week.

I'd like to play with some MYOG ideas, but don't picture myself as a sewing machine. I'm not very creative, so you may have lit a fire. Never thought about combining bits and pieces fro...

WM Summerlite
Not sure. Maybe I'm just deep chested, or a squirmer. But I think I have a solution to that problem. I just received my Goosefeet down booties today! 2.7 oz down sleepsock. Instant warming when...

Osprey Exos 46
Short and simple. I dig the smaller straps and buckles. I was initially concerned about the buckles and (thin) waist belt, but that has proven to be unfounded. I have about 100 miles on the pack and n...
