My Locale John S. hasn't told us about their geographical region yet.
About Me Originally from Louisiana, I enjoyed camping in my Boy Scouting days and eventually became an Eagle Scout. Many years later (2002), I discovered backpacking after going on an REI multisport trip to Alaska. My first backpack was to Grand Canyon, and I was hooked!

Re: Insulation for tall folks
Aren't parkas usually longer than regular jackets? If so, look at the montbell parka?

Re: Oware Group Buy
Make sure a group buy is possible. I saw a group buy thing by the alphamid some time back, and when I brought it up here, the group buy thing was gone the next day.

Re: Re: rocky gore-tex socks
The campmor neoprene sock I have is branded by campmor and doesn't look like the one pictured for Seirus. Maybe they have changed, but I doubt it. Either is probably fine.

Re: 303 UV Protectant for shelters, etc
Call and make sure it won't damage the coating somehow...like DEET will. Not a bad idea to make the shelter more UV resistant. I use it on my kayak.
