My Locale Scotts Valley CA via San Jose, CA
About Me A return to backpacking after a musicians life. Hiked with too much weight before finding out the "lite" side. I live in Scotts Valley which is right in the middle of the beautiful Santa Cruz Mountains, and only 10 minutes from the beach and 15 minutes from Los Gatos. Love the Sierra's!!! Too many places to see and go!

Great photos Andrew! Love the pics of the Lyell/McClure area and I have always wanted to go there. Fall in the Sierra is an amazing time.

Re: "The other lightweight site"
Dead set against "volunteer moderators" why? Most on here have paid for a subscription, be it yearly or life. I don't want others telling me what to do on here or to play nice so to s...

So here's a question....if we were to have a few moderators and as moderators do, they police the site. If someone gets snippy or downright awfully rude.....And that person was a subscriber or ...

Did a trip into Emigrant Wilderness one Oct. a few years back. We got a healthy snow storm that snowed in some hikers across The Sierra. Lucky for me we were about 500 feet below the snow line that...

Been using ULA packs for years. Bought the P2, P1 and now the Conduit. All are excellent in their own way. Customer service is perfect and so is the gear. Great packs!!!

Came home to find a rather colorful small box on my porch today. Wow it is small. I have always thought that it would be cool to have a small bear cannister for 1-2 nights of backpacking. Well here it...
