My Locale Colorado Rockies
About Me I'm 45 years old, 6'4" and 195 lbs. I've backpacked in the Colorado Rockies, the Wasatch and Uinta mountains, and in Zions National Park. I mountain bike in the Colorado Rockies. I've kayaked in Yellowstone and on Flaming Gorge, and rafted the Green, Colorado and Snake rivers. My trips are usually a week long or less. I love to hike wherever I can. I'm an Assistant Scout Master and I'm often out with the Scouts. My immediate goal is to thru-hike the Colorado trail. I've lived in Utah, Ohio, Illinois, Argentina, California, and Colorado.

Re: Advice on my Clothing List.
Are you willing to sleep in what you hike in? If so, then you can drop the 2 T-shirts and just treat your Patagonia Capilene Crew as a shirt. I do something similar with my Shadow's hoody. I like ...

Re: Re: Titanium Potty Trowel for your SUL gear list
Denis, that's funny...but sadly not far off. The cobalt drill bit I used instead of the sheet metal punch, cost about $3, but you have to add $1 in band aids. That thin titanium is mighty sharp bef...

Re: Re: sheds of gray......
Russell, great posts. I may be over simplifying this, but for me it boils down to versatility. A soft shell combines two layers that are more versatile when they are separate. It's like a temperatu...
