poncho/tarp and bivy
If you use a poncho/tarp paired with a bivy then you are set in my opinion. My bivy has a bug net and keeps my bag dry, with the tarp protecting me from any direct rain since my bivy is only water ...

Wait on the pack.
Since you are still trying to lighten your load...i would actually suggest you getting your pack to be one of your last purchases. Then you can know how big your pack needs to be, and how heavy.

I would suggest the TiGoat Ptarmigan. Some people have complained that its not roomy enough for a full pad but i don't use a full pad anyways. Plus, less expensive then others for similar weight.

I would also support you getting a tarp and bivy for the PCT. I just don't think that your umbrella would protect you or your sleeping bag. I use a golite poncho tarp combined with a ptarmigan ...
