About Me I backpack and packraft, and sometimes teach both. I bicycle and ride a motorcycle. Sometimes I run. Sometimes I do Yoga. I have wilderness medical and whitewater rescue training. I can be a bit of a gear junky, although I seem to read more and buy less these days.

Re: Brooks Pure Grit- A quick look.
Both of those are interesting to me, but neither would fit. So far the only performance-type shoe I've found shaped correctly for me is the Altra Instinct. The Lone Peak (supposedly on the same...

Re: Katabatic
I'm currently playing with a Katabatic Blackwelder. I've also purchased a couple of quilts from Tim in the past (some of his first products). I'd call Katabatic the WM of quilts. They&#...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Pack ideas?
Yeah, I did have a prototype that had some missed stitches in the bottom of one of the stay sleeves. It wasn't a production pack which is what the review is of.

Re: Pack ideas? (Porter carry)
Ryan has "comfortably" (subjective) carried > 40 lbs in his Porter (guiding in Canada). The prototype versions I had used the stays from the Windrider. Those didn't carry nearly as...

Re: owning only one pair of shoes?
I get by with one model year-round. I haven't been in desert conditions with them but have been in pretty much everything else.
