Scotsdale, AZ or Santa Fe, NM, where would you rather have an overnight hike
If you don't mind driving, you could go to Costilla, and hike down into the upper Rio Grande canyon. I think that's in the Wild Rivers Rec area. Abundant springs in the bottom.

Bandelier could be perfect for what you want to do. Just watch the weather, it always seems like northern NM gets more snow, the closer you get to the end of the ski season.

Santa Fe, NM
The O'Keefe Museum, and dinner at Geronimo's. I think there will be way too much snow to do much hiking, unless it's around town. Which ain't bad. Like others have said, you might b...

Wolf kill confirmed in Alaska
I can't imagine a conservation group paying ranchers for wolf predation. Not going to happen. Well, a hunting group might, since they are more about conservation. Never happen with an environme...

Wolf kill confirmed in Alaska
Shame they spent 10s of thousands of dollars investigating the obvious, but it is politically incorrect to imply that wolves might be a danger to humans.

UL bag for a AT thru-hike?
I think a GG Gorilla would be a safer bet. Or a ULA Ohm.

The 1%
I wonder why he didn't interview George Soros? And I still think a flat tax cures all ills. And I swore I would never read another chaff thread.

My Paleo
I'll be watching this too. I've been torn between the Paleo, and the gluten free, and the slow carb diet that Tim Ferris promotes. I need to lose 30-40 so I can ride my bike in the Iron Hor...

Nice bag. 1/2 zipper is kind of a pain, and makes it hard to use as a quilt. Seems true to rating.

Replaced my Exos 58 with this, much more comfortable, with more weight. Got a deal on a 2008 model, and added the dual stays. A lot bigger pack than I'll use most of the time. Gained some weight o...

Switched to this for more durability, and the ability to carry more water in the desert. Works like a champ, and you couldn't ask for better customer service.

I have to ding it a little for the hip belt. I think the hip belts on the large runs small, because it didn't wrap around me enough to be effective. And that may not be fair to ding it, because al...

Mine kept me warm in the upper 20s, so I'm happy. I'm not completely sure it would reach 20, and keep you warm for 8 hours. But it's a great product for a great price.
