About Me Dad was a Boy Scout Troop Leader, and for years I thought that was his job. Always wanted to grow up to be him. Clearly remember accompanying the "big guys" on their hikes into the Sierras when I was 5, 6, 7 years old. Dad passed away this last year, and I've decided after 15 years of not slapping on a pack, I'm going out. I've been motorcycle camping for the last 6 years, but that's a different animal...Just hiked 2,000 miles of the PCT in '11. Riding CA to NY in '12.

That gentleman was extremely fortunate to have that EMT there. The cold weather, getting completely soaked coupled with the head wound and possible general shock would have done him in. And it ...

Wait a second! You're ASIAN? But yeah, I'm not imressed overall. If you think about body heat & trapping it, then isolating your extremities doesn't make much sense. But I'...

I agree, the "Sombrero" is not uber-breathable. I'd die in the desert. I'll be using a visor w/ a bandana or other piece of cloth under it for sun protection. I have a lack of fol...

Thanks for all the feedback so far guys. I'll respond with my thoughts as much as I can. @ Greg: Bear spray might be unnecessary. Although, I looked at my can & it's less than w...

Keep JRB in mind. I'm using a Sierra Sniveller on my PCT thru this year. So far, I've been really pleased using it. I know the TiGoat Sniveller is JRB, then TiGoat beefs it up somehow. Ther...

Dirty Girl Gaiters
I just bought a new pair for my PCT thru-hike. I wanted a gaiter name that would be PCT friendly, so I went with "Not Potable." I had a couple pair of good but heavy low gaiters from a gr...

Love this kettle. My impressions after using it for a while now: [] It's wider, squat profile is really well suited for the type of home-made cat food can stoves I use most. The flame throw...
