About Me Originally from Louisiana, I enjoyed camping in my Boy Scouting days and eventually became an Eagle Scout. Many years later (2002), I discovered backpacking after going on an REI multisport trip to Alaska. My first backpack was to Grand Canyon, and I was hooked!

This documentary premiered in November 2014. I just watched it on PBS. It will be on next on Jan 6 at 7 PM CT. I thought it was good to see the family talk about him.

In abouts 2006 I was in the Grand Canyon and we heard rumors of a duo of antagonistic turkeys. We ran into them at Bright Angel campground. They were aggressive in seeking food.
