MYO Jerky questions
So why do you freeze game meats 30 days before making jerky? I've never done that with mine, and I'm still alive. And the only time I've used a cure (nitrates) was for a buddy of mines ...

Shangri-la 3 Setup
I try to do 2 on one side, then 2 on the other, then the door and the back. If you hit a rock, spin the tent, or try to angle the stake around it. Or live with a less than perfect pitch.

Kids backpacking in Glacier NP
I could have handled a 3,000' descent a lot better at 12 than I can today. I probably would have run down that at 12.

Torn Meniscus Treated with Stem Cell Prolotherapy
Doc thinks I may have torn my meniscus lifting weights the other day. I bet I'm a long way from anyone who does Prolotherapy.

Patagonia Brilliant Neon Colors in Outdoor Gear
@ Eugene - are you going for the Johnny Cash of backpackers vibe?? Anyway, we had a saying in the 80s - "just say no..........to day-glo". Sounds like good advice for now. Unless I'...

Help! I need a new pack
I give a slight edge to my Mariposa Plus over my Circuit in comfort. But the Circuit carries more weight better. And I think the Mariposa can be finicky about packing, although once you get it, it&...

Marmot Atom Mens Regular 40 Degree
Nice bag. 1/2 zipper is kind of a pain, and makes it hard to use as a quilt. Seems true to rating.

ULA Catalyst
Replaced my Exos 58 with this, much more comfortable, with more weight. Got a deal on a 2008 model, and added the dual stays. A lot bigger pack than I'll use most of the time. Gained some weight o...

ULA Circuit
Switched to this for more durability, and the ability to carry more water in the desert. Works like a champ, and you couldn't ask for better customer service.

I have to ding it a little for the hip belt. I think the hip belts on the large runs small, because it didn't wrap around me enough to be effective. And that may not be fair to ding it, because al...

Golite Ultra 20
Mine kept me warm in the upper 20s, so I'm happy. I'm not completely sure it would reach 20, and keep you warm for 8 hours. But it's a great product for a great price.
