About Me Began hiking in the Carolinas, some in Virginia and now in Florida - much less variation in terrain, I'm sad to say, but beautiful in its own right. A Gatewood Cape w/Serenity is my primary solo shelter nowadays.

Bob's correct. I have boiled water with it, but it's slow. Don't think I'd want to trust it in cold temps.

Try running a 1:3 mix of Clorox:Water through it a time or two, then just a few liters of water. Will probably be ok, but your nose and tastebuds will be the best judge.
