Zebralight
I should mention that the H52 has a switch that is much more recessed than the old H51, so it should have fewer issues with coming on inadvertently.

AA Charger
Thanks for the info. You guys rock. That 2 x AA Sanyo (SEC-TDR02N) looks like it's gotta be light. Waiting 5 hrs x 2 is a bit high, but it might be the way to go. Paul, thanks for the info o...

Headlamps
I forgot to unscrew my Zebralight H51 once. It came on in my pack and melted a hole in the cuben stuff sack. I love Zebralights (just bought an H52w), but there are still improvements to be made...

AA Batteries
I'm using Duracell Ion AA's, which are supposed to be a lot like Eneloops but a bit higher capacity (2400 mAh) http://www.mec.ca/product/5036-680/duracell-rechargeable-ion-core-aa-batterie...

AA Wall Charger for a Thru-Hike
I'm trying to find a lightweight and ideally speedy AA charger for an upcoming thru hike. I'm interested in a wall charger, not a fancy solar array. Right now I've got a 4 x AA Durac...

These packs are going to be a huge step up for SMD. I'm looking forward to seeing them.

Trekt.com has a good Patagonia sale going on right now. There's a lot in stock including down jackets etc. It's pretty much all 30% off and then you can toss a 10% off coupon on top of that...

This is probably a dumb question, but it theoretically possible to also use this stove with white gas or kerosene like MSR's WhisperLite Universal? I'd love to have this option. Obviousl...

Mountain Laurel Designs Cuben DuoMid
The DuoMid is the best shelter for solo hikers. Don't be misled by the "Duo" in its name - you could cram two hikers in here but it's poorly suited for that (ie. no vestibule space, ...

Spark-Lite Fire Starter (Survival Gear - BPL Gear Shop)
I have this kit and the FireLite Mini kit. This sparker is a bit lighter than the FireLite Mini but I don't trust this sparker 100% like I do the FireLite. This sparker doesn't work well wh...

BPL FireLite Firestarter
I love this FireLite Mini. It's the only thing that I 100% trust to start a fire. With a mini Bic you can run out of gas, be at too high of an altitude, get it wet or get it oily. Matches can ...
