I think it's conditions related and conditions you have experienced with it so far were not conducive to condensation issues. I suspect it's coincidence, and has nothing to do with materials.

The way I see it, a pair of scissors is just two knives bolted together at a pivot joint. If you want to be UL, carrying scissors is carrying twice as much as necessary.
