trail runners....
.... always; no hardcore winter climbing, but trail runners for everything else... they are so comfortable and light, I use them with crampons, and with waterproof socks they are just great in cold...

Perfect fleece?
I'm with Todd and Dan - I don't own or use fleece anymore, a light insulated jacket is for me a far superior product - light and warm. Ace for backpacking or just going to the pub!
