Re: Re: Zpacks Waterproof Breathable Event Jacket
That new jacket looks fantastic. I'm a big fan of Propore, but this jacket just looks better. It is lighter, just as breathable (if not more so) and a lot more durable. Other than the price, I ...

Re: Re: Re: Re: Classic Backcountry Coffee System Revived!
OK, Rick. Good point. In a "blue bag" zone (that is, an area where you have to carry out everything, including your feces) this type of coffee probably doesn't make sense. But most fo...

Re: Re: Dream PCT shelter set up
I have a Refuge X and I think it is a great tent. However, I have a niece who is just about done with the PCT and what Thaddaeus said is probably more common. Basically, after setting up camp day a...

Re: Re: Classic Backcountry Coffee System Revived!
I'm not a coffee drinker, but 2.4 ounces sounds good to me. In other words, if I was a coffee drinker, and this was capable of making better coffee, than an extra couple ounces seems like a pre...

Re: Sleep comfort: Neoair Alternative?
Sleeping pad comfort is a personal thing. Lots of people find the NeoAir comfortable because it is really thick and therefore reduces the chance that you will "hit bottom" (which is more ...

Re: Sit pad?
@Zorg -- You can fold it over several times, making it a very good sit pad, with a decent R value. Basically, it has plenty of flexibility, especially around camp. If the ground is pretty smooth an...

Re: "Weight of recently purchased Gossamer Gear Thinlight
Yeah, I do exactly the same thing as Jeffrey. These thin pads are just handy to have. Use them to protect your air mattress, or as a sit pad during the day.

Re: suluk46
The Suluk46 is the right type of tool, but the wrong design (for me). It is the right type of tool in that it tries to be "a little something", instead of a certified ice axe. Unfortunate...

Thanks Max. I can't say that I'm surprised. To be fair to everyone who criticized my question, many are looking out for my safety. I understand, and kind of expected it. My main question wa...

Another GG review, another five out of five. This time, I broke a pole section (the lower part, or tip). It was my fault (I stepped on it) and not the fault of the pole. A call to customer support (I&...

Ultrapod Mini
I am very happy with my Ultrapod Mini. It does what is supposed to do very well. You often have to be resourceful with it; but with a little imagination, you can take great pictures. For example, if y...

Pentax Optio WP
I very much like my Optio WPi (6 mp). I have found the waterproof feature to be of much greater value than I originally expected. For winter pictures, it is really handy to set up a picture and not wo...

Eureka Zues II Exo
I bought this tent a few years ago, before I knew about tarp tents. I have been happy with it, but it is a little smaller and heavier than a tarp tent. As a free standing tent, it is more round, which...
