About Me Grew up camping and backpacking in Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. Then went to the east coast for grad school...then job...then family. Twenty years later we were able to reach escape velocity from Washington DC and relocated the entire family to the PNW. I've fallen in love with the Cascades as much as the Rockies. And we spend 4 weeks every year in Montana near Glacier.

Re: Re: Esbit cleanup
My experience using Esbit for many years is that the residue is water soluble, and comes off easily with a little water and light scrubbing. I do it at camp after each cooking event. Takes 1 minute...

Exofficio Ventr
I'm also a 30/30. Still searching for the perfect cooler weather pant. But for warmer weather the ExOfficio Ventr is my favorite. Sun and bug protection with minimal weight and sweat.

Umbrella
Ditto on a truly ultralight umbrella using reflective material (needs to not degrade due to UV) and carbon fiber. I'd love to cut my chrome dome weight in half.
