My Locale Colorado Rockies
About Me I'm 45 years old, 6'4" and 195 lbs. I've backpacked in the Colorado Rockies, the Wasatch and Uinta mountains, and in Zions National Park. I mountain bike in the Colorado Rockies. I've kayaked in Yellowstone and on Flaming Gorge, and rafted the Green, Colorado and Snake rivers. My trips are usually a week long or less. I love to hike wherever I can. I'm an Assistant Scout Master and I'm often out with the Scouts. My immediate goal is to thru-hike the Colorado trail. I've lived in Utah, Ohio, Illinois, Argentina, California, and Colorado.

Re: Why tent stakes?
I'm usually in a hammock, so I don't need more than 2 stakes. I use what is readily available first and then use my stakes if I need to. I always carry one Vargo Titanium Nail Stake because...

Re: Where can I get UL cord locks?
I purchased mine at http://thru-hiker.com. Be aware that spectra line is quite slick and may not provide enough friction to keep the cord locks from slipping. This depends upon your application. Ay...

Re: Wool weight
If your trying to minimize itch and your not allergic to the fabric then the width of the fiber will have an impact. Ibex uses 17.5 micron in some of their garments, which is the finest I'm awa...

Re: Re: Fibraplex poles
Allison's post reminded me that silnylon shrinks when it dries. I wonder if something about the design of the Nallo 2 and shrinking silnylon caused the poles to fail? I don't own a Nallo 2 ...

Re: Those ubiquitous boston round bottles . . .
I use the 1 oz version from REI for my alcohol hand sanitizer and Dr. Bronners soap. They've worked fine for several years, no leaks.
