quilt similar
I finished a quilt probably 45 min. ago and used velcro for the footbox. The shell, liner, and insulation weighed 13 oz without sewing. After the velcro, sewing, small grosgrain tieouts on each end...

Look at this article, it looks like a potentially lighter solution, although not on the market today. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2011/11/111109093555.htm

Re: Has anybody seen this? -BioLite Wood-Burning Stove
Haha thats hilarious! Did you make that? I think its a cool concept, especially for car camping. The process of turning heat into electricity is a very cool idea, especially if you can run a small ...

Re: 1.9 oz pu vs. 1.9 oz sil?
I have heard that the PU coating is way more waterproof. I think it weighs more, too. Also, it will not be as slippery for sure so as a bivy floor, that would be an advantage. That said, the sil-ny...

Re: Pack reccomendations
I love my Golite Jam, but based on your criteria it wouldn't fit unless you count the foam pad as a frame. On the frameless backpack SOTM report, it had better load carrying capacity than some ...

Re: If you could only have one backpack......
I'd probably carry my Golite Jam. It is extremely comfortable and can compress down very well for smaller loads. Lots of features although it is a bit heavy (26 oz trimmed) for a frameless pack.

Re: Whats a good stitch pattern for my machine?
I use that sewing machine and the basic 00 straight stich is nice. The 74 button hole doesn't work on my machine, however. The 03 bar tack at a very low stich length is good for re-enforcements.
