Re: Upgrades/add-ons to your HMG Porter?
Just a couple of hip belt pockets, plus their mesh front pocket. Other than that it's GTG.

Re: Thoughts / questions on HMG Windrider Southwest pack
The first thing I'd do is to direct these questions to HMG. I'm sure they'd be glad to help you out, and if anyone can give you an accurate answer, they could.

Re: re: Adding an inner to a poncho+trekking poles combination?
Looking at your original picture of your poncho/tarp pitched over your pad and bag, it looks like the tarp is pitched fairly high. The lower it's pitched the more weather resistant it would be...

Re: you are me choose the best quilt possible
I'd second the recommendation for the Nunatak Arc Alpinist. The largest quilt is rated for 6' 4", but you can get them to make a custom size for your height and shoulder width if you ...

Re: What's your light or UL internal FRAMED pack?
HMG Porter 4400 (formerly "Expedition"). Great pack that carries very well. I use it when I need the capacity to haul bulky winter loads, or for longer trips. No complaints at all.

Re: Best Cuben Fiber Pack - 40-50L
I've got the HMG Porter 4400, which I use for winter trips or whenever I need the capacity. It carriesloads very well, and seems quite well built. No complaints.
